Total Activity Disaster!

[last week/wednesday/feb25]

TLE period. Somebody from our class announced that we'll proceed to the school's computer laboratory. No doubt, no questions asked. There will be another programming activity to be done for sure! So same process; I got my hand-outs from my locker and went straight for the door.

When I got to the lab, my partners France and Indira were already on their respective places in front of our assigned computer. As usual, I sat on the middle while France was on my left side and Indira on my right.

"Indira, open mo na si Visual Basic." I said while looking at my hand outs.

"Ok. Halat. Mapatugtog kita."

France on the other hand, took a little look on my hand out and asked, "Anong activity ta ngunian?"

"Message and Input Boxes." I answered. "Dalian ta na para matapos kita tulos."

I really wanted to finish early because honestly, I don't want to cram again! So, I studied how the things are done based on the sample and we got to work. I was the one who creates all the labels and boxes on the form window. France on the other hand was studying how to create the codes so later, we already know what to do. Indira? Oh I don't know. Basically, she pinpoints the mistakes we commit and watches us do all the stuff.

After creating all the needed boxes, labels, and the other items required, it was time to type those codes. Since France already know what to do, she was the one who tells me what to type. In that way, things will be easier. After typing each code, we always do a preview of our work so that we're sure that everything works just fine. But to our dismay...

A part of the code was highlighted yellow and we don't know why!

"O? Tano sala?? Sinunod ta man lang si format sa hand-out?!" France remarked. Disappointment was clearly seen on her face.

She was right. We just followed the sample on the book! Now, what?? I asked myself.

I examined the code we typed and compared it to the one on the hand-out. And after 48 years, we finally figured out what was wrong: it lacked a single quotation mark!

Okay. Back to work.

Same process. Type, preview, type, preview, then all of a sudden another code goes wrong, check, type, preview. Easy, right? Well, definitely NO!

We were halfway on the activity when I noticed something. There should be those query icons, warning icons and other stuff on the left side of the message box thing!

ARGH! Why hadn't I noticed that?!?

"Tano mayo kita kayan? Pano yan nilalalaag?" I asked France since she was the one who knows.

"Inda. Dapat igua kayan?" Okay. Now what? "Haputon ta sinda."

So she asked CJ, Sarah,, and almost everyone! But we get the same answer...

"Inda. Dae pa man kami naglalaag codes."

WAAAAH!!!

And so, we were left with no choice. "Saru-saruon ta na lang daw sa handout!!!"

Again, after 48 years, we saw a table with all the codes for a certain event or whatever you call them. Everything was listed there! There were the codes. All we have to do was type the in the place where they belong...

But where exactly??

Solution: Trial and error; also known as CHAMBA!

After a few moments...

"Nakakasuya!! Tano habo maggana!?" I said, disappointed for the nth time.

I looked around. It seems like our classmates are also busy doing things. When I looked at my watch, it was almost time!!!

"Pano na ni?!? Baka i-check at the end of the period!" Gosh, I really was starting to panic!

"Matabang na daw ko!" Indira said all of a sudden.

Well, nice suggestion!!! Sheesh...

"Alina, relax lang ngani! Nasusuya naman lugod ko!" France's eyebrows that time were already 'intersecting'! (ha ha ha...)

"OKAY. Relax. Chill." I smiled a bit while wiping the sweat off my forehead.

"Ayuson ta na ni." France was now the one typing because I was still 'chilling out'.

We were almost HALFWAY on finishing the first activity when suddenly, the bell rang for recess!!!

P-A-N-I-C!!!

We hurriedly saved our work on some random folder in My Documents with the file name 'fralinana' (i know. weird name!). After that, France immediately rose and took her chair with her. She seems really irritated so I approached her.

"Ui France, anggot ka sako? Sorry..."

"Dae... Ini daw. Dae man ako saimo anggot... Nasusuya lang talaga ako."

No. I doubt it. She looks really really irritated. "Sigurado ka?"

"Eu. Dae ngani. Suya lang talaga ko." After that, she waved goodbye and headed straight for the door.

Okay... She said she wasn't mad at me so she isn't! But I had a feeling that she really was...

At the classroom, she approached me and said that she really wasn't mad at me. She was just so irritated with something...

"Sain ka baya talaga nasusuya?"

After a long hesitation, she replied...

"Si Indira kaya, dae nagtatabang!" Okay. Well, I'm not surprised.
